Given the recent tragic event at Grenfell Tower and subsequent concerns regarding cladding, we have contacted the suppliers of the cladding recently installed on the part of our building housing Reception and Year 1 - the old CLASP building.
We have been assured that the product used - Permarock Mineral Fibre System - meets all the necessary regulations. Further details are below:
The PermaRock system employed on this project to which you refer was a PermaRock Mineral Fibre System. This system comprises adhesively bonded and mechanically fixed PermaRock Mineral Fibre insulation which is non-combustible (Euroclass A1 to BS EN ISO 13501-1:2007 +A1:2009). The insulation is adhesively bonded to the wall (to ensure that there is no continuous cavity to contribute to a chimney effect behind the insulation) as well as being mechanically fixed. The render system comprises of a reinforced basecoat (which is a cement-based material into which a glass fibre reinforcing mesh is incorporated during installation) with a decorative finish, or finishes, applied over. The entire render system is applied directly onto the insulation, with no cavity through which a fire could spread.
