Welcome to Year 1 - Palm and Chestnut !
A very big HELLO to all the new Y1 children and their parents and carers! Mrs Mason, Mrs Rolling, Mr Wilde, Mrs Hutchins and Mrs Mason (yes there are two Mrs Masons!!) are looking forward to getting to know you all and working together.
Remember it is so important to read regularly and practice your phoneme recognition. Be like a detective and try to spot them in your reading books! Also practise your word lists as well as counting in ones both forward and backwards!
Also, please choose three things that you are going to attempt from our homework menu - which you can find below.
We love seeing all the creative ways you interpret the homework tasks and love to display your work on our Homework Wall which is at the entrance to 1 Palm. Let's hope we get lots of fab things to fill the wall this half term!!
Completed homework can be brought in to school anytime from Monday 16t October 2017 – deadline for completion is Thursday 19th October.
Finally don't forget to scroll down to the bottom of the page to find the links to safe internet searching, maths, literacy and other sites that we use in class as well as the links to Phonics Bug and Oxford Owl where you can do lots of eReading.
Do you have any ideas, needs or wants for this page? Why not let us know!
Take a look at the Children's Zone where you can play games and visit some cool websites. You can vote for your favourite!
Please remember that children should bring water, in a water bottle, which they can drink throughout the day.
This should be taken home, washed and refilled daily. Thank you.
Both Palm and Chestnut have outdoor PE on Wednesdays.
Indoor PE is now on Tuesdays for Chestnut and Fridays for Palm.
Children should bring their kit and keep it on their pegs for the week.
Please can we also ask all earrings (plus any other jewellery items) are removed prior to school on these days .
On Thursday afternoons your child will have the opportunity to change their library book.
Please ensure they bring their book in to avoid disappointment.
