Art and Design
Art, craft and design embody some of the highest forms of human creativity. We aim to ensure that all pupils are given opportunities to produce creative work, explore their ideas and record their experiences in a variety of ways. Pupils are encouraged to analyse and evaluate creative works of art using the language of art, craft and design and develop a sound knowledge and understanding of great artists, craft makers and designers. Each year, pupils are given opportunities to work alongside local artists during our annual Art Week. Willow weaving, clay sculpture and printing are just a few examples of the many art week projects that pupils have enjoyed.
Art Week takes place each year and offers many opportunities and experiences for pupils to develop their awareness and understanding of Parkdale's key learning values.
We welcomed the well known illustrator, Tony Ross, to our school during book week 2018. He told some wonderful stories which were accompanied with a series of large illustrations. It was great to watch him in action! Pupils were then given an opportunity for Tony Ross to sign their favourite books. A memorable day indeed!

In October 2016, members of staff spent the day exploring a range of painting techniques and skills. Staff were given opportunities to experiment with oil and watercolour paint before working collaboratively to produce a large scale painting made up of forty individual pieces of work.
