Welcome to Parkdale Primary School Moving Forward, Learning Together

Our high quality science education ensures that pupils are encouraged to recognise the power of rational explanation. In doing so, we aim to develop a sense of excitement and curiosity around this subject. Our pupils will be encouraged to understand how science can be used to explain what is occurring in the world. They will also predict how things will behave and analyse causes. Children will build up an extended list of specialist vocabulary and they will also apply their mathematical knowledge to their understanding of science, including collecting, presenting and analysing data. At Parkdale, we aim to maximise the pupils' engagement with and motivation to study science.

The children have been exposed to lots of Scientific information:

Rec: Ourselves, Fairy Tales

Y1: Animals incl Humans, Seasonal Changes (Autumn/Winter), Materials (Forces, pushes & pull), Plants.

Y2: Materials, Animals incl Humans, Habitats, Plants and Electricity

Y5: Living Things and their Habitat, Animals incl Humans, Properties and Changes of Materials, Changing Materials.

Year 2 Testing materials

The children in year 2 have been learning about 'Habitats' Worldwide and Local. The children have thoroughly been looking at how we can damage the habitats and how we can try to help them. This is the first piece of independent writing after being given the facts...I am so proud of the year group for their efforts and enthusiasm, even a Head Teachers Award for one little girl in 2 Willow. Well Done!
